Air Ambulance Week 2024 has taken off and we’re proud to support Air Ambulances UK in raising awareness of the UK’s air ambulance charities.
Anyone in the UK can become a patient at any time. Air ambulance charities are delivering the message: “Today’s Supporter, Tomorrow’s Lifesaver”, reminding us that by supporting your local air ambulance charity today, you can help save lives tomorrow.
In the South Central region we are very fortunate to work with two amazing air ambulance charities: Thames Valley Air Ambulance and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
In 2023, the two air ambulance charities were called out to 5,135 emergencies in our region – that’s an average of just over 14 patients in life-threatening situations, such as cardiac arrests, medical emergencies and serious road traffic collisions, every day of the year.
The two air ambulances can get to anywhere within the South Central region with 15 minutes, bringing a specialist team of doctors and critical care paramedics, with state-of-the-art technology and advanced medication, to the side of a patient to deliver the same level of care you would expect from a hospital emergency departments.
Air ambulance charities receive no government funding – their teams and vehicles are funded purely from charitable donations.
