Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) were delighted to visit Bierton CE Combined School in Aylesbury on Friday 23 June and be presented with a cheque for £1,500.
All the paramedics visiting the school are part of the Green and Orange Teams based at SCAS’ ambulance station in High Wycombe. They have come together as the NE Dream Team to raise money throughout June for the South Central Ambulance Charity.
So far, fundraising events have included a car wash and valet for staff vehicles, a ‘guess the number of balloons in the ambulance cab’ contest, bake off competition and cake sale, raffle and the team have been out and about on their days off putting charity collection tins in local shops.
Having heard about their fundraising efforts, staff and children at Bierton CE Combined School decided to get involved too and organised a number of fundraising activities of their own, including a sponsored bounce.
SCAS Paramedic and Team Leader, Dave Baker, said:
“We were absolutely bowled over by the generosity of children and staff at Bierton CE Combined School in supporting their local ambulance service charity. Their amazing donation will make a real difference and further enhance the care we can deliver to them and all local people in our area.”
SCAS Paramedic Leisl Bowes added:
“It was a real pleasure to meet the children and staff at Bierton CE Combined School and be invited to their special assembly. We had hoped to raise £1,000 this month with our own efforts alone, so the school’s very generous donation was amazing to add to that total too.”
