Statement on incident on M27 (29 November)

Nov 29, 2024 | News, Uncategorized

We received multiple 999 calls around 08:25 this morning (29 November) all reporting that an adult male had fallen from the bridge over the M27 at junction 9 and landed on the carriageway.

We sent an ambulance, a paramedic team leader in a rapid response vehicle and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance helicopter to the incident.

The patient, a 21-year-old male, had sustained serious leg injuries and following initial treatment at the scene, was then taken to University Hospital Southampton in a stable condition by road.

Hampshire Police closed both carriageways to allow the air ambulance to land but the motorway has now been re-opened.
