Volunteer car drivers
Do you like driving? Do you like meeting new people? Do you have some time to spare?
If so, why not join our team of volunteer car drivers. The service is managed by our charity and supports the non-emergency Patient Transport Service. Our PTS team, and the volunteers who support them, help hundreds of people every day to get to and from hospital appointments.
No previous experience is required just a friendly caring attitude and some spare time. We offer complete flexibility so you can volunteer as little or as much as you like, whilst fitting in with other commitments.
To become a Volunteer Car Driver you need to:
- Be aged over 18
- Have a valid UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points
- Have access to a four door car
- Undertake a Disclosure and Barring ( DBS ) check
- Able to use a mobile phone
As part of the application process you will be invited to attend:
- Occupational health screening
- Basic driver assessment
- Volunteer induction, this will give you the opportunity to meet other Volunteers and support staff.
In recognition to your contribution we offer you
- Mileage allowance
- Ongoing support
- Uniform and equipment
